On May 17th, MBC’s new drama “Ripley” held its production conference at the Banyan Tree with lead roles Kim Seung Woo, Lee Da Hae, Park Yoochun, and Kang Hye Jung in attendance.

As it’s his second drama, Yoochun was asked to explain the difference between his role in “Ripley” and his role in “Sungkyunkwan Scandal.”

Kang Hye Jung who is playing the second female lead role, praised, “Yoochun-ssi is so great at acting and works extremely hard. I think he fits his character well of being a smooth man of the city. A person of his level could probably take on dramas catering to the teenage audience, but he doesn’t rely on his popularity at all and is determined to live life as a true actor.”

On his reasons for choosing “Ripley”, Yoochun commented, “I’ve really wanted to do a melodrama. I loved the character as well, and after seeing the line-up, I wanted to be able work with them.”

“Ripley” will debut on May 30th.

Micky Yoochun dishes on TVXQ, JYJ, and future ambitions

“Lyricist, producer, singer, actor – I want to be good at it all.”

“This is the first time since my debut that I have felt a sense of greed. Before, the feeling of getting pulled along was much stronger… But now, I feel like I’m doing things for myself, and I want to become good at them.”

JYJ trio member Micky Yoochun (24) received his first opportunity to successfully debut in the acting scene by by being cast for the drama ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’. In a recent interview with Yeonhap News, the singer was able to reveal his thoughts about his current activities in the entertainment industry.

When asked “How far can your talents reach?”, Micky Yoochun replied, “I can do a lot of things, but there’s nothing that I really excel in. It would be good if I could try everything at once, but since that’s difficult to achieve, I want to slowly develop myself in each field, one by one. I want to excel in all four fields.”

Because the filming for ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’ experienced some sudden last minute clashes with his showcase schedules for the JYJ promotions, Yoochun had no other choice but to digest his schedules at a superhuman level. The experience led him to fully understand how difficult it is to be active in both singing and acting at the same time.

“I had no other choice but to practice the showcase choreography at the historical set of ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’. Since I had no time to travel back up to Seoul, the dance team came to me and we practiced during my breaks. It was really difficult. I needed to learn the dance for a new song in just two days. That’s why I barely had confidence when I stood up on stage for the showcase. Phew.. I don’t even know how I got through with it all. If I ever have clashing schedules like that again, I don’t think I could do it. I think I really need to manage my schedules well.”

Micky Yoochun lived in America between 6th grade elementary to 2nd grade middle school before he returned to Korea to become a member of TVXQ and eventually, one of Asia’s biggest stars. Yet, as Yeonhap News revealed, “He decided to give up the name of TVXQ and began a new path with fellow members Hero Jaejoong and Xiah Junsu under a new name, JYJ.” With the new transition came an additional level of stress. Even now, the member claims that he does not feel as free as before.

“It’s better now, but before I suffered so much stress that I could barely sleep; so much stress that I couldn’t even remember when I last felt at rest. However, in the end I think this was for the better. I have absolutely no regrets with my current situation. I may still get stress and worry a lot, but right now I am happy in my state of desire for what I want to do.”



With regards to his group name ‘JYJ’, Yoochun said, “We did have thoughts of promoting with a better and awesome new name, but we didn’t feel the need to live an extravagant life and tell everyone of our new journey.”

JYJ is currently on their worldwide showcase for their new album, “The Beginning“, which contains a total of 8 tracks, including songs by Kanye West and Rodney Jerkins.

“This might sound cliche, but the album contains music that I’ve always wanted to create. During our album production, I was truly able to feel why Kanye West is a worldwide star, and thought how much effort he must put into his work when no one is watching. Meanwhile, Rodney Jerkins did not seem like an American. He definitely has an oriental mindset, and he is well aware of what he’s good at, and what his strong points are.”

The official release of their album was followed up by an official article about JYJ in the US Billboard Magazine. Although they were all advertisements that they had to pay for themselves, it is still not an easy task to achieve nevertheless.

“When I saw us in the Billboard Magazine… It was just so fascinating. It’s a magazine I always bought when I was in America, but to see us on there, and to see our picture on the homepage of their site made me really happy and warm inside.”

Micky Yoochun concluded with, “There are so many things that I still need to do, and things I want to try. I will put in all my effort with an enthusiastic and thankful mindset.”

박유천(24). 그의 연기자 데뷔는 짜릿했다.

아시아를 호령하는 동방신기 출신 JYJ의 믹키유천이 아니라, 연기자 박유천으로 임한 데뷔작 '성균관 스캔들'이 폭발적인 인기를 끌면서 그는 이제 가수와 연기, 두 마리 토끼를 쫓을 수 있게 됐다. 이미 연기자로도 확실하게 자리를 잡은 정지훈(비), 이승기에 이은 재목의 가능성이 보인다.

'성균관 스캔들' 종영 후 이틀간 몸살에 시달렸다는 그를 5일 저녁 논현동 JYJ 사무실에서 만났다.

인터뷰를 위해 지난 6개월간 길렀던 머리카락을 산뜻하게 자르고 나타난 그는 "촬영하면서 10㎏이 빠졌고, 두 차례 병원에 실려가 링거를 맞았지만 너무나 행복한 시간이었다"며 환하게 웃었다.

예와 법도를 지키는 의젓하고 까칠한 이선준 도령 대신 수줍음 많은 신인 연기자 박유천이 시종 밝은 미소를 지으며 긴 얘기를 풀어냈다. 그러나 지나간 시간 속 박유천의 모습은 독했고, 지금의 열광적인 호응이 인간의 한계를 시험하는 치열한 노력 덕에 나온 것임을 느끼게 했다.

--의관정제한 모습이 잘 어울렸다. 평소 한복을 입기도 하나.

▲전혀 아니다. 명절 때도 입지 않는다. 그런데 다행히 어울린다는 소리를 들어 좋았다. 상투 틀고 한복을 입는 것에 대한 두려움은 없었다. 오히려 그렇게 하고 사극에 출연해야 가수로서의 내 모습과 분리될 것이라 생각했다. 첫 촬영 때 연기가 미숙하다보니 대사없이 걸어가는 신 위주로 찍었는데 '선비답다'는 말을 들어 기분 좋았다. 하지만 한편으로는 외관이 잘 어울린다고 하니 연기도 그에 맞게 잘해야한다는 생각에 더 부담이 되기도 했다. 어머니가 촬영장에 한번 몰래 오셨는데, 현장에서 분장한 내 모습을 보시고 딴사람 같으면서도 잘 어울려 깜짝 놀랐다고 하시더라.

--사극 대사가 쉽지 않았을텐데. 또 대사가 무척 길었다.

▲진짜 힘들었다. 그나마 퓨전사극이니 대사를 사극톤으로 하지말라고 주문을 하던데 아무래도 사극에 대한 고정관념이 있다보니 사극톤을 계속 의식하게 되더라. 이선준이 나이도 어린데 내가 자꾸 정통사극톤으로 대사를 치려고 해 힘들었다. 대사 암기는 기본이라 생각했기에 철저하게 외우려고 했다. 드라마 초반 '후반에 가면 2시간만 재워달라고 사정하게 될것'이라는 말을 들었고, 실제 그런 상태에 몰리게 됐지만 그럼에도 대사 NG는 안 내려고 노력했다.

--데뷔작이고 JYJ 공연과 병행하는 살인적인 스케줄이었음에도 매회 나아지는 모습을 보여줬다.

▲병원에 두 번 실려갔다오면서 배우들이 정말 힘들게 일하는구나 느꼈다. 시간이 조금이라도 나면 먹기보다 잠을 자야했고, 연기에 대한 부담감에 마음 편히 밥을 먹을 수도 없어 안 먹게 되더라. 먹으면 바로 얹혀서 대충 군것질거리로 때웠더니 10㎏이 빠졌다. 이동하면서라도 잠을 자야하는데 대사를 외워야해 그러지도 못했다. 그 와중에 공연 스케줄까지 소화해야했다. 그렇게 궁지에 몰리니까 오히려 잡생각이 안 들고 아프고 나니 더 대본에만 집중하게 되더라. 촬영장에 아무리 많은 사람이 모여도 대본만 눈에 들어왔다. 막판에 특히 시간에 치였는데 그래서 더욱 노력했다. 공연 때문에 며칠씩 비워야했기 때문에 다른 배우들이 NG 내는 거랑 내가 내는 거는 다르다고 생각했고, 미안한 마음에 웬만하면 한두번에 OK를 받자는 생각으로 준비를 더 많이 했다. '저번 회보다 연기가 나아졌더라'는 말을 가끔 듣기는 했는데 나 스스로 그런 것을 느낄 여유는 전혀 없었다.

--연기를 해보니 어떤가.

▲진짜 재미있었다. 재미는 확실히 느꼈는데 하다보니 욕심이 계속 생기더라. 아버지 역의 김갑수 선배님이 너무 멋진 연기를 보여주시고 잘 지도해주셔서 큰 도움을 받았다. 선배님과 호흡을 맞추면서 소름이 돋은 적이 한두번이 아니다. 엄청난 '포스'를 뿜어내셨고, 덕분에 나도 기대보다 좋은 연기를 해내기도 했다. 닮고 싶은 연기자가 두 분인데 김갑수 선배님과 김윤석 선배님이다.

--저잣거리에서 동성애 고백 장면이 압권이었다. 눈물 흘리는 것을 보고 많은 이들이 놀랐다.

▲그 장면은 정말 시간이 없어서 정신없이 찍었다. 방송이 펑크날 상황이었기 때문에 NG를 내도 바로잡을 시간이 없을 정도였다. 용인 민속촌이라 구경하는 사람이 굉장히 많았지만, NG를 내면 연기자만 손해인 상황이니 반드시 한번에 제대로 가자 싶었다. 다행히 두번 만에 OK를 받았다. 첫번째는 너무 눈물이 많이 나와서 NG가 났다. 눈물이 절로 나와 뿌듯했다.(웃음) 평소 배우들이 도대체 어떻게 울까 너무 신기했다. 완성된 작품에는 슬픈 음악이라도 깔리지만 현장에는 음악도 없지 않나. '어떻게 저리 울까. 누가 옆에서 음악을 틀어주나' 했는데 내가 감정에 몰입하니 울게 되더라. 그 후 눈물이나 감정신에 자신감이 붙었다.

--이선준으로서는 언제 가장 행복했고, 배우로서는 언제 행복했나. 또 어떤 고민을 했나.

▲그 당시에는 못 느꼈는데 2일에 촬영 끝내고 돌아가는 차 안에서 대본을 다시보며 돌아보니 이선준은 극초반 아버지가 성균관 입학을 축하한다고 했을 때 가장 행복했던 것 같다. 연기를 하면서는 '앞으로 내가 연기를 해도 되겠구나' 싶어져 좋았다. 안타까웠던 것은 이선준이 역사의 한 획을 그을만큼 큰 포부를 가진 사람인데, 내가 연기를 잘 못해서인지 제대로 다 표현되지 않은 것 같은 점이다. 초반의 까칠함과 후반의 사람다워지는 모습이 서서히 잘 섞여야 하는데 내가 미숙해서 자꾸 초반의 어린 모습이 나오는 것 같았다.

--마지막회가 논란이 되고 있다.

▲조금 더 연장했어야 했는데 급했던 건 사실이다. 솔직히 해피엔딩이 아니길 바랬다. 막판에 무거운 이야기들이 많았는데 끝까지 슬프게 가져가서 끝냈으면 어땠을까 하는 바람이 있었다. 하지만 20회 대본을 받고는 이렇게 결말이 된다면 이 안에서 볼거리를 주자는 생각이 들었다. 코믹한 부분이 안들어갔으면 더 아쉬웠을 것 같다.

--'믹키유천'이 누군지도 몰랐다는 30-40대 여성들이 대거 팬으로 가세했다.

▲이야기는 들었는데 글쎄 왜 그럴까.(웃음) 용인에서 촬영할 때 한 할머님이 '이선준'이라며 날 알아보시고 반가워하셨다. 가족분들이 '할머님이 이선준을 보며 되게 설레어하신다'고 말했다. 옛날이야기라서 그럴까. 감사할 따름이다.

--언제부터 연기가 하고 싶었나.

▲동방신기 2집 활동 후부터 연기를 하고 싶었다. 예전에 생각한 것을 이번에 연기하면서 느낀 건데, 연기하면서 스트레스를 받는 것보다 그것을 통해 푸는 게 더 많은 것 같다. 배우는 연기를 하면서 감정을 내지르고 다양한 캐릭터가 돼볼 수 있으니 그것을 통해 많은 것을 풀 수 있을 것 같았는데 실제 해보니 그렇더라. 원래 난 꾹꾹 참다가 나중에 터뜨리는데 이선준은 처음부터 잘못된 것을 바로잡아가서 좋았다. 액션신도 스트레스 푸는 데 도움이 됐다.

--가수로는 톱스타인데 이번 촬영에서 신인처럼 겸손했다며 칭찬이 많다.

▲일본에 진출할 때 다시 신인으로 돌아갔던 경험이 있다. 그때 인기가 많으나 적으나 똑같은 사람이고, 인격적으로 다른 게 아닌데 인기가 많다고 그것을 티내려고 하면 안된다는 생각이 들었다. 그리고 연기로는 신인이었기 때문에 당연히 신인다워야했다고 생각한다.

--이선준은 조선의 미래를 고민했다. 박유천의 고민은 뭔가.

▲일단 당장은 아버님이 굉장히 많이 아프셔서 걱정된다. 병원에 계시는데 드라마 촬영하면서 많이 못 챙겨 마음이 아팠다. 그 외에는 가장 가까운 사람한테 존경받는 사람이 되고 싶다. 주변 사람들에게서 진짜 우러나오는 마음을 받는 사람이 되고 싶다. 그간 내가 바쁘게 지내면서 챙겨야 하는 사람인데도 못 챙겨준 게 있다면 이제 진짜 마음으로 챙겨주고 싶다. 그럼으로써 나도 건강한 사람이 될 것 같다.

Micky YooChun gives a shy response when asked about his first acting attempt and his bed scene with actress Park MinYeong.

The press conference of upcoming KBS drama ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal was held on 15h July at the filming site of the drama. When asked about the bed scene he had to shoot with Park MinYeong, Micky said, “The bed scene with Park MinYeong.. Well in most dramas, we only get to see the bed…right?”

And about his first acting attempt, Micky said, “I have always had the Dong Bang Shin Ki Micky YooChun image since my singer debut, I think I can show various images through the characters in acting. And I am envious about that, and have decided to take up the attempt this time.”

Meanwhile, the cast for the drama Park MinYeong, Micky YooChun, Song JoongGi and Yoo AhIn were present for the press conference that day.

The show is set to air on 30th August.

Yucheon: Primera aparición pública desde pleito con SM Entertainment

Yoochun, member of the group TVXQ who went on a hiatus after their lawsuit with SM Entertainment arose, made his first solo public appearance since the lawsuit.

On the afternoon of 15 July, at Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, Yoochun posed for photos in front of the posters for KBS2′s new drama [SungKyunKwan Scandal] for the media. This is the first time that Yoochun appeared in public alone since July last year, when they filed for an injunction of their exclusive contract with SM.

For that reason, there was a lot of interest on whether Yoochun would comment on TVXQ’s activities or about Yunho and Changmin who chose to stay with SM, in front of the media.

Previously, Yoochun spoke about his ambitions towards this drama, “After reading the synopsis (story outline), I found it really interesting. I wanted to meet Seon Joon (the character Yoochun is playing) quickly. I’m really honoured to be able to play a charismatic character in a serious drama for my first role. To be able to show everyone a good performance in such a good piece of work, I’m studying various things to show my best.”

Yucheon: "Quiero probar vivir otra vida a tráves de la actuación"

The 4 main characters from “SungKyunKwan Scandal,” which describes love, friendship, dreams and passions of SungKyunKwan Confucianists in the Chosun era, were revealed publicly. On 15 July, 1.30 pm, at Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, the “SungKyunKwan Scandal” set was opened to the public, and also present were TVXQ’s Yoochun (Micky – Park Yoochun), Park Min Young, Yoo Ah-In and Song Joong Ki.

After breaking away from TVXQ and pausing all activities, this is the first time Yoochun has appeared in an official event, and he showed a bright side standing in front of the camera. Yoochun said, “I am happy that I am able to be part of “SungKyunKwan Scandal.” He is a calm person, it’s almost as if he won’t bleed even if you prick him, that’s the kind of character he is. However, he is a humane and charming character,” speaking about his take on the role.

When asked about what he did during the time when activities were suspended, Yoochun said, that “I led a normal life, working hard on music, writing songs, and also practicing my acting skills. I also watched the movies that I couldn’t watch because I was busy, and went out with my family, enjoying a normal life.”

Towards the challenge of acting, “When I was doing singing activities, the image of Micky Yoochun was always around. But if its acting, I can live many different lives through different roles. I want to try living other lives, ones that are not Micky Yoochun,” he said.

For his future plans, “I’ll probably still be pursuing singing activities, after “SungKyunKwan Scandal” is over. I want to challenge a variety of music genres,” he revealed. Challenging acting for the first time, Micky Yoochun answered the reporters with regards to other TVXQ members and also talked about his recent situation.

On the afternoon of 15 July, Micky Yoochun attended the press conference for the KBS drama “SungKyunKwang Scandal”, at Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Do.

During the press conference, when asked if he had been badly affected by the relationship between the members of TVXQ, Micky Yoochun replied honestly, “During the time of the lawsuit, Yunho was busy with his drama, and Changmin was at Jeju Island. Actually, we don’t contact each other as often as people think, because we have all been busy. However, even though we don’t have much contact, but there really doesn’t seem to be much of a difference between our relationship now and previously, and we get along well. As time passes, it feels like there really isn’t much that has changed.”

Aside from this, Yoochun also cheerfully talked about his recent situation, “ After the lawsuit, I had a normal life. Learning music, practicing and writing quite a few songs, and also underwent training for acting. Actually, I was like a normal person, watching movies, eating, and because I didn’t have much time for my parents when I was busy, I have been spending more time with them now.

About his first time acting, Yoochun expressed that. “After I debuted as a singer, everyone knew me as TVXQ’s Micky Yoochun, but as an actor, you get to challenge various characters, and this attracts me. I have always envied actors, so I am really happy that I can challenge this.” When asked by the reporters about the bed scene with female lead Park Min Young, Micky Yoochun was very embarrassed and answered wittily, “Well, for the bed scene with Park Min Young, if its aired on TV, won’t they just show a bed?”

The now-actor Micky Yoochun also addressed his fans who have not seen him for a long time, “I haven’t seen all of you on such a occasion for a long time, so I was rather nervous yet anticipating it. I, too have my own ambitions, but instead of just saying that I will work hard on acting, I want to show everyone physically. Now that I have an opportunity to show a different side of me, I am very happy.”

Adapted from the novel “The Lives of Sungkyunkwan Confucian Scholars,” SungKyunKwang Scandal is a Chosun era campus youth period drama, which talks about how Kim Yeonhee pretends to be a man, attending school on her sickly brother’s behalf. After entering Sungkyunkwan, she meets Lee Seon Joon, Moon Jae Shin & Yu Yong Ha, and this kicks off a story of friendship and love between these passionate youths of the Chosun era. Appearing in this drama are Park Yoochun, Park Min Young, Yu Ah-in, Song Joong Ki, Lim Jung Eun, Seo Hyo-rim etc, and is scheduled to start airing on 30 August.

TVXQ’s three members Micky Yoochun, Youngwoong Jaejoong and Xiah Junsu appealed to the Korean Courts in July last year, against their management company SM Entertainment for unfair contract, and requested for an injunction of the contract as well as compensation. The courts ruled that, before the verdict in October this year, they are not to interfere with the TVXQ trio’s activities. Recently, the TVXQ trio also held the “JUNSU JEJUNG YUCHUN THANKSGIVING LIVE IN DOME” concerts in Osaka, and officially kicked off their solo activities.

Cuando se le preguntó cómo ha pasado el tiempo, entonces, Micky Yucheon dijo: "Lo he pasado tranquilo, leyendo musica, componiendo, practicnado actuando y viendo películas." Además, "Como estábamos muy ocupados, nunca tuve el tiempo para visitar a mis padres por lo que tome la decisión de pasar tiempo con ellos."

Al terminar [My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox], [SungKyunKwan Scandal] será puesto al aire en septiembre de este año. Micky Yucheon quien hace el papel de Lee Seon Joon, que sobresale en todos los aspectos - inteligencia, riqueza, físico - y es el único hijo de una familia rica. Un personaje que nació con una cuchara de oro en la boca, Lee Seon Joon desarrolla una relación de amor con Kim Yeonhee, quien cambia de vestuario en el drama, lo que hace que el drama sea complicado pero interesante.

En cuanto a porque él expandió sus actividades para incluir la actuación, Micky Yucheon dijo, "Siempre eh estado interesado en la actuación" y "comparado con cualquier otra cosa, la razón de porque realmente quiero hacer esto es porque desde que que debute como cantante, sólo he tenido una imagen - Micky Yucheon - pero como actor, hay muchos otros encantos que puedo mostrar a la audiencia."

Hero Jaejung habia dado continuamente su apoyo a Micky Yucheon antes de comenzar su debut como actor.

Micky Yucheon rió cuando dijo, "Jaejung-hyung me dijo esto antes de filmar - 'Tu debes morir una vez también' y otras cosas que me alentaron." Jaejung ha iniciado su debut como actor antes que Micky Yucheon.

Finalmente, Micky Yucheon dijo, "Después de mucho tiempo, estoy realmente emocionado, me sentare aquí y los saludare a todos. Me esforzare. Quiero mostrarles lo mejor de mi a todos. Quiero que lo vean a través de este drama, quiero una oportunidad de mostrarles a todos una nueva faceta de mi."
